Solar Panels

Not all panels are made and produce equally. When shopping for solar there are three big components that you should be concerned about

Panels, inverters, installation. Most people just focus on the payment and how much money is it going to be! Well I'm here to tell you that cheap can be very expensive.

When offering solar panels to my customers I ask myself what would I want to see on my loved ones homes, and why?

Sunpower Solar PanelsSunpower - Simply hands down the best panel manufacture out there. From the beginning, their only focus has been solar, over 200 industry patents, efficiency of over 24.2% delivering 44% more power per square foot, Industry leading 25 year product and performance warranty.

LG Solar PanelsLG Electronics - Global leader in technology innovator in consumer electronics, mobile communications and home appliances. Very much a household name. one of the leaders in panel conversion efficiency, as well as their 12/25 year product and performance warranty.

I have chosen these two manufactures as my leaders of costumers choices, this choice is driven by quality of product as well as company sustainability. I wanted to offer my customers a peace of mind that in the future the manufacture will still be around and in turn they still have a warranty that they can rely on.

Inverters

There are basically three types of inverters…

Microinverters

Microinverters convert DC power to AC right at the panel and so don't require a string inverter. Also, because of the panel-level conversion, if one or more panels are shaded or are performing on a lower level than the others, the performance of the remaining panels won't be jeopardized. Microinverters are also monitor the performance of each individual panel, while string inverters show the performance of each string. This makes microinverters good for installations with shading issues or with panels on multiple planes facing various directions.

String Inverters

Solar panels are installed in rows, each on a "string." For example if you have 25 panels you may have 5 rows of 5 panels. Multiple strings are connected to one string inverter. Each string carries the DC power the solar panels produce to the string inverter where it's converted into usable AC power consumed as electricity. If an installation uses string inverters and even one panel is shaded for a portion of the day reducing its performance, the output of every panel on the string is reduced to the struggling panels' level.

The best of both worlds!

The SolarEdge DC-AC PV Inverter at Solar Holmes Inc, Upland CA

The SolarEdge DC-AC PV Inverter is specifically designed to work with the SolarEdge power optimizers. Because MPPT and voltage management are handled separately for each module by the power optimizer, the inverter is only responsible for DC to AC inversion. Consequently, it is a less complicated, more cost effective, more reliable solar inverter.

SolarEdge Power Optimizer

The SolarEdge power optimizer is a DC/DC converter which is connected by installers to each PV module or embedded by module manufacturers, replacing the traditional solar junction box. The SolarEdge power optimizers increase energy output from PV systems by constantly tracking the maximum power point (MPPT) of each module individually. Furthermore, the power optimizers monitor the performance of each module and communicate performance data to the SolarEdge monitoring portal for enhanced, cost-effective module-level maintenance.

Make Your Home More Efficient with..

Whole House Fan

A whole house fan is a type of fan, or exhaust system commonly venting into a building's attic, designed to circulate air in a home or building. It is sometimes confused with a powered attic ventilator, which exhausts hot air from the attic to the outside through an opening in the roof or gable at a low velocity.

A whole house fan is usually installed on the attic floor near the center of your house In the late evening or early morning, the fan is turned on to exhaust hot air from the house. Cooler outdoor air enters through open windows, lowering the indoor temperature. Using a whole house fan is a cost efficient way to cool your home. Traditionally. A whole house fan have been noisy, hard to install and very energy inefficient. Today's quiet whole house fans offer an innovative design that makes them so quiet you won't even know they're running.

Variable-Speed Pumps save energy: Reduce before you produce!

If you're thinking about going solar and have a pool, consider changing out your pool pump!

No matter what kind of pump is being used, slower pump speeds save energy. They also dramatically reduce the noise level associated with traditional pool pumps and reduce wear on not only the pump itself but also on filters, heaters, chlorinators and other equipment that water flows through.

A variable speed pump is critical to maximizing pool energy efficiency. In contrast to a standard single speed pump, a variable-speed model alternates between slow and fast modes to optimize energy use throughout the day, reducing pump electricity consumption by up to 75%. Many utility companies offer a rebate of the purchase of an efficient pool pump.

By reducing your electric demand you could reduce the amount of solar panels needed for your home.
